We want to remodel or add-on to our home. How do we get started?
Schedule an appointment with your general contractor to go over the scope of the work and your ideas. During the first meeting, an architect will be recommended.
How long does the planning process take, and when will construction begin?
Several factors can have an impact on timing, such as the city you live in, what kind of work you want done, how quickly you can make decisions, and whether or not you have a home owners association. The typical addition takes four to six months to have plans prepared and ready for a building permit.

Do we need a licensed contractor?
Yes! Any job that exceeds $500 in value requires that the person performing the work be licensed with the Contractor's State License Board.
What should we check for regarding the selection of a contractor?
Make sure your contractor is licensed with the CSLB. It is also important that a contractor carries worker's compensation and general liability insurance. Make sure that your contractor specializes in the kind of work you want done on your home and finally, ask your contractor for any referrals they may have.
