Dear Mike-

We're coming up on the first anniversary of our move back into our remodel, and just wanted to touch base to thank you again for all of your work on our project. I will 'out' us at this point as first time remodelers, who made every newbie mistake in the book before settling with Mike as the GC for the project. I knew Mike was the right man for the job when I opened the binder with the quote. On page one was a list of 20 or so references with their phone numbers. Page 2, another 20 or so. And so on, till I finally got to the quote on page 7 or so. As one learns with remodeling projects, the quote can only be as good as the effort expended on it, most of which comes from listening to the homeowner and really sweating the details. Mike's quote was head and shoulders above the others in terms of its comprehensiveness.

When the work started I was impressed with the organization of Mike's team, and looked foreward to the daily drive-by to see the progress being made. I came to appreciate the value of Mike's three decades of experience and his commitment to his core team, as they simply dealt with every curve ball that these projects inevitably throw. Whether it was detail changes in framing, adding more outlets to my Garage Majal, plumbing, all of Rob's masterful tile work, you name it- Mike and his team were there, sleeves rolled up. In some ways I feel like I became part of the team (being a hopelessly hands-on kind of person), which Mike not only tolerated, but embraced. The final product goes way beyond what I could have imagined when we started the planning more than 2 years ago, because of his experience and vision.

My only regret from the whole experience is that I don't have another major project for Mike to work on- the next one will be much easier because the GC is already picked out. And for whatever it's worth, Mike's still got the key to the front door- it's always open to any prospective client that would like to see what Mike and his crew can do.

To Prospective McDonald Construction Clients:

I think Mike McDonald would agree - the home reconstruction project recently completed by Mike and his dedicated team of employees and subcontractors was, perhaps, among the most detailed of its kind in Orange County in 2005. And, despite many new and exciting technical challenges, Mike never blinked. Never.

Oddly enough, we started talking to Mike about our proposed project over ten years ago. Most contractors would walk away from a client taking anywhere near that long to make a decision. Not Mike. He stuck with us through several architects and even more "final" designs before we finally gave him the green light. His patience through this process told me volumes about what he would be like to work with once our project started. And I was right.

Patient, level headed and calm, are just a few of the adjectives I would use to describe Mike. Even when I tried to rattle him, Mike maintained an even keel, and that's how our entire project flowed. Mike's aim, from the get-go, was to please us - and failure was not an option for Mike and his team. Everybody Mike brought to bear on our project understood this.

Mike's team is comprised of his own employees and his subcontractors. I've built other homes and worked with other contractors and their subs. Let me tell you, Mike's got the right guys on board, and few things are as important. His loyal group of employees are gems. Pleasant, hard-working and detail oriented, Macario, Sergio, and the guys showed up with a smile every day their specific talents were required - and there was nothing they couldn't do and do extremely well. I looked forward to seeing them at the job site each day.

Subcontractors, you know, can make or break a Contractor. Mike has, apparently, carefully cultivated his selection of subs over many years, and his team, the cream of the crop, took their marching orders seriously every day. Whether it was Electrical, Finish Carpentry, Tile Work, Roofing, A/C, or another trade, Mike's guys are the best and, here to, failure was genuinely never an option - only precision and success. Every one took great pride in their work.

Mike McDonald has everything "technical" it takes to do your project. But beyond that, and what is most important, is that he is honest, forthright and forthcoming, and ethical in all respects - he is simply a good man.

In the end, Mike and his team built a magnificent home for us. Construction is never easy. Curves are thrown at you all the time - it's the nature of the beast - but Mike takes the curves, straightens them out, keeps a sincere smile on his face every day, and ensures that your project will be a successful one. What more can you ask for?

To whom it may concern,

It has been almost six years now since my wife and I decided to remodel our home in Woodbridge. The job was quite significant, we added over 2,700 square feet and had never gone through any remodeling before. We started to talk to our neighbors who had recently remodeled their homes, and the name Michael McDonald Construction kept coming up. It turned out that Mike had remodeled almost all of the homes of the people we talked to, and they were all very happy with his work and dedication to his jobs. We set up a meeting with Mike and within 10 minutes I knew he was our guy.

Mike built us a home that has more than exceeded our expectations. He continually improved upon the original plans that we started with, and quite honestly made the entire process a delight. I would come by every night to see the progress and Mike would be there reviewing the days work and sharing his thoughts with me to make our home even better. He demanded perfection from his sub-contractors, and on several occasions he had them come back to make minor adjustments. He saw things I would have never noticed and made sure they were done right.

By the end of the job, Mike had become much more than just our contractor, he had become, and still is, one of my closest friends. We would love to have any of his potential clients come to our home to see his work, and that includes any of you who might be interested in working with Michael McDonald Construction. Once you see our home, you'll sign him up just as soon as we did.

As I mentioned, it's been six years since our job was completed, and we haven't had any problems with the work that was performed under Mike's guidance. We love the home that Michael McDonald Construction built for us and you will too.

Dear Mike,

It has been almost a year since Sharon and I moved into our new home that you rebuilt. Although we used an architect to design the plans, it was your input during the project that allowed us to make changes "on the fly", adding the final touches that make this home special. I also attribute the success of this project to your high standards of workmanship and your choice of sub-contractors. Finally, you completed the job in record time and kept the job site very clean. I would recommend your company to anyone looking for an honest, up front contractor who gives excellent service even after the job is done!

Thank you for a job well done,
Fred & Sharon Myers

Before Shauna and I began the long-awaited remodel of our home in Woodbridge, we looked at quite a few home remodels and found that the nicest ones had something in common -- they were Mike McDonald Construction projects. Based on what we saw, we followed the crowd.

We were not disappointed. In fact, we were very pleased with the work of Mike McDonald Construction during our home remodel. Mike and his team were great to work with. Our project was large in scale, and we needed a contractor who would not be overwhelmed by its scope. Mike's help was invaluable in getting approvals through the Woodbridge Village Association. He and his team were very thoughtful toward our neighbors who patiently put up with our dust. As the project progressed, Mike's experience was invaluable in making suggestions which greatly improved the design of several rooms. Mike's subcontractors were gentlemen and craftsmen in the own right. Mike even gave us outstanding referrals to a landscape contractor and an interior designer.

Our home turned out better than we could have ever hoped. We heartily recommend Mike McDonald construction for your home improvement project.

To Whom It May Concern,

This letter is in refenence to Michael McDonald and Michael McDonald Construction who performed work for us in 2002. Specifically, Mike re-modeled an existing house for our family in the Landings II area of Woodbridge in Irvine, California. The project consisted of major renovations as well as demolition and re-construction of approximately 75% of the existing house which substantially expanded the size of the home to in excess of 4000 square feet.

Throughout the entire project, I found Mike to be a complete pleasure to work with. He is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and responsive, and I was most impressed with his relationship with his subcontractors and the high standards he sets for them. Despite many challenges, the house was completed on time and within our budget and the quality of the workmanship and attention to details was outstanding. Most importantly, and even in the most of trying times, Mike was open and honest and acted with the utmost integrity.

We could not be happier with our home and the working (and personal) relationship we have had with Mike McDonald. Without reservation, I would highly recommend him to anyone considering a home re-model or construction project.

Dear Mike,

Tricia and I want to thank you again for building our remodel and exceeding our expectations through out the entire process. The home turned out perfect, exactly the look and feel we had imagined when we started this project a year ago. In any remodel, there are lots of surprises, and your team's "we will take care of it" vs. "that will cost extra" first response to any surprise really sets you apart from the pack. You, your team, and sub contractors, were true partners with us every step of the way. And everyone on your team has customer service as a priority. They were on time, polite, neat, hard working and in general were fun to have around.

On the first remodel you did for us 11 years ago, we learned to trust your design suggestions, and you did it again on this home. Your suggestions and new ideas enhanced not only the look and feel of our home, but also improved the functionality and flow. We could not be happier with your input and the results.

Mike, Please forward this note on to any of your future clients as a reference, and let them know they can call Tricia or I personally to discuss our experience in building 2 houses with you over the past 11 years. Our experience has been the same both times - a partner who is on time, on budget with a very courteous team who were respectful of our needs & thoughts at every step.

Warmest regards,
Jim & Tricia Moise

To McDonald Construction's next satisfied client:

My wife and I have had the good fortune to have used Mike McDonald for two separate home projects in the past 5 years. Mike came very highly recommended by the owner of a large lumber yard in Orange County, and he has never disappointed.

The first project involved the construction/addition of a 3000 bottle wine room/cellar off of our dining room. The end result has been the envy of wine merchants and consumers ever since. In addition to the wine room, we remodeled a bathroom and kitchen. Put in new hardwood flooring and travertine. Everything turned out beautiful.

Our second project although it started out small became significantly larger in scope than the first project. What was originally an expansion of the garage to accommodate an additional vehicle, resulted in the addition of a new Master Bed and Bath, enlarging a guest room and bath into another suite, adding a new laundry room and pantry, enhancing further the kitchen beyond the first job and installing beautiful woodwork throughout the entire house. You need to see the garage too (it's a guy thing).

As the project grew and changed (sometimes daily), Mike and his crew were always accommodating and more importantly patiently available to make suggestions and recommendations. Mike has over the years surrounded himself with the best subcontractors and McDonald Construction employees. Believe it or not we actually missed his crew being around when the project was completed.

We can't recommend strongly enough Mike McDonald Construction. We welcome any interested party to come visit our home and see for yourselves the quality of work Mike does.
